Dennis
This was my first fire engine - a Dennis SS 137. It was new to Warwickshire Fire Brigade in 1987, and has a Perkins 8.8 litre V8 diesel engine generating 215 BHP. The engine can drive the road wheels through a four-speed Allison automatic gearbox or can drive the built-in Godiva fire pump which can pump up to 750 gallons (that's three tons) of water a minute. I traded it in against my new one in May 2010.
6 Sept 09: Appliance now has the proper main ladder on the roof - a three-section, 45 foot (13.5m) extending ladder.
13 Sept 09: Some shots of the interior of the cab, and one of the ladders on the roof.
20 Sept 09: Pictures taken at the Lupin Farm classic vehicle rally back in August.
11 Oct 09: The front half of the cab tilts, so you can get to the engine. The ramp on the roof of the tilted part of the cab is part of the frame which carries the ladder on the offside of the roof.
